As broadcasters, we report on breaking news, provide entertainment, and relay vital information to our communities. But what happens when one of our own needs assistance?
For over 70 years, the BFOA’s sole directive has been to extend critical aid to broadcast professionals from all sectors, including on-air talent, engineers, producers, sales teams, marketing, finance, and administrative staff.
Our efforts have helped thousands of families across the country maintain a decent quality of life while they navigate life’s unexpected challenges. Since 2016, we have distributed more than $15 million in financial aid to broadcasters in more than 45 states and territories... and the needs continues to increase.
Your contributions to this unique mission make a HUGE impact on the lives of your broadcast colleagues, like radio producer Jamie Megargee. She shares her story below...
"After more than two decades in radio broadcasting, I faced a challenging period in my life that required me to step away from the career I loved to focus on my health. It was a time filled with uncertainty and emotional overwhelm, and I truly didn’t know what would come next. During that difficult time, the Broadcasters Foundation of America was there for me. Their support, kindness, and generosity gave me the stability I needed to heal and the space to rediscover my footing.
Because of their help, I was able to take care of myself without the added stress of financial strain, and eventually find a new opportunity that’s a better fit for this new phase of life. I will always be deeply grateful for the way they lifted me up when I needed it most. This foundation is a lifeline for so many, and I feel incredibly lucky to be one of them."

Join us on June 18th at iHeartMedia Studios for the 4th Annual BFOA Media Mixers New York City! This networking event series brings together broadcasters from all levels in the industry for a chance to mix and mingle with peers, executives, and on-air personalities... all while enjoying complimentary cocktails and bites!
This year's event will be co-hosted by Angela Yee, BFOA Ambassador and nationally syndicated host of Way Up with Angela Yee, and Pedro Rivera, reporter and anchor for ABC7's Eyewitness News. Closing out the night will be Long Island singer-songwriter, Camryn Quinlan.
“We are thrilled that there has been such an overwhelmingly positive response to our Media Mixers,” said Tim McCarthy, President of the Broadcasters Foundation. “During today’s dramatic changes in the media landscape, more broadcast professionals -- entry, junior, and senior levels -- want to get together to exchange experiences and brainstorm for the future.”
Thanks to our sponsors - Hearst Television, iHeartMedia, and Katz Media Group - this event is complimentary, but registration is required.
Congratulations to Deborah Norville, who hosted her final episode of Inside Edition on May 21st. She expressed her gratitude to her viewers and colleagues, and thanked the over 100 broadcast professionals working behind the scenes who make each show happen.
